Unicycles
The word unicycle comes from the words uni and cycle, uni means one and cycle means wheel. Which means that a unicycle is a vehicle with one wheel. We are well aware of bicycles and tricycles as these are very common. However, unicycles come with the general notion of whimsy and fancy, as we regularly see unicycles in the circus. However, unicycles are used outside the circus too. In the United Kingdom, unlike most countries, unicycles hold a special place in the heart of biking, as well sports, enthusiasts. This is because sports events centered on unicycling are very common in the United Kingdom. In fact, as of writing, there will be an upcoming unicycling event popularly known as the Warwick Unicycling Races, which is to be held in September 2009 in Warwick.
The Warwick Unicycling Races is sponsored by the Warwick County Council together with Action 21. This is an annual unicycling event meant to promote the unicycle in United Kingdom. This consists of bicycle races, and the highlight of the event is the 40k bicycle race around the 1k town center circuit.
Apart from the annual Warwick Unicycling Races, there are other events in the United Kingdom which celebrates the craft of unicycles. There was the British Muni Weekend which put mountain unicycles front and center, and the regular bicycle conventions which features unicycles, bicycles and tricycles.
